About Me

55

Matthew almost didn't go to his church one Sunday in the fall of 2023.  He had noticed that a guest preacher would be there, and even though he thought about not going, in the end he was faithful.  Chris, the director of EnterMission was speaking about the longings of young adults and how EnterMission seeks to meet those needs.  It was at the end of the service that he came forward and said that it was as if the message was written just for him and that he would be willing to quit his job right then and there to be a part of what we do.

At 26 years of age, Matthew began to walk down a path that would change his entire life.  With the support of his family and his amazing church (https://www.ferncreekcc.org/), he has been a tremendous asset as he not only has joined our community but done so while serving as a Resident Assistant in the dorm!  Funny and kind, Matthew has been a great example and someone who is easy ot talk to, listen, and give advice.  We all believe that he should consider being a counselor because he is so caring and so able to listen with and identify with those who are struggling.

We are thankful to all of Matthew's friends, his church family and others who are stepping up with their prayer and financial support to make his mission's journey possible.  â€‹

Under the Bridge is a ministry whose mission is to serve the homeless people through providing clothes, food and drink, and other services such as bike repair, dental, and medical.  We work with this ministry every Wednesday evening.

Something  I noticed with Under the Bridge ministry is that people there have stories, and a good portion of them want to share their stories.  They want people to see them and to be seen by others.

Stories are how we connect.  When you hear the stories of the people around you, then you can become more deeply connected with them.  I feel honored to have the opportunity to hear their stories.  I’m grateful that I was able to pray for the people who shared their stories right with them in their mess.

I would encourage you to seek someone out and to hear their story and pray with them.  Even when it’s a mess, being there matters.
